First preliminary fight: Alex “The Snake” Troll (CBCB) vs. Tim Bendfield (LCBC)
The first fight of the evening was evenly matched in the first rounds and was at a high chess level. Tim Bendfield with White was able to apply positional pressure in a Benoni structure in the third round of chess. For his part, Alex “The Snake” Troll then looked for the advantages in boxing and was able to win the 4th boxing round with the judges. Tim countered in the 5th round of chess with an excellent deflection sacrifice and launched a king attack. Alex then escaped into the 6th round of boxing, but was unable to force the knockout. Right at the beginning of the 7th round of chess, Alex had to give up the queen to prevent the impending mate and gave up. That made it 1-0 for London. |
